Melbourne Design Week 2026

Melbourne Design Week is Australia’s largest annual design event, launched in 2017 and presented by the National Gallery of Victoria as an initiative of the Victorian Government, with 2026 marking its tenth edition. Held over eleven days each May, it has grown from just over 100 events in its first year to more than 400 staged across the NGV, Abbotsford Convent, the Victorian Pride Centre and venues throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The programme spans architecture, interiors, product design, fashion and food, with the 2026 edition looking at the future of food, fitness and furniture alongside Australia’s design legacy and emerging practitioners. Visitors can take in more than 100 exhibitions, keynote lectures from international designers, hands-on workshops, panel discussions, fashion showcases and dining experiences, plus interactive events such as design competitions. The 2025 edition drew over 100,000 attendees, reflecting its role as the country’s leading platform for contemporary design.
