Singapore Design Biennale is Singapore’s newly launched design event, succeeding Singapore Design Week, which ran annually for ten editions since 2014. Organized by the DesignSingapore Council, its inaugural edition runs from mid-May to late June 2027, expanding the previous annual, eleven-day format into a five-week citywide biennial held once every two years across venues in Singapore.

The biennale is positioned to support more ambitious and experimental design work than its predecessor’s annual format allowed, with an international open call inviting designers, studios and collectives to submit proposals ahead of the 2027 edition. It reflects the DesignSingapore Council’s aim to move Singapore from a participant in global design conversations toward a place that helps shape them, presenting design across disciplines through exhibitions, installations and public programming staged throughout the city.
