NYCxDESIGN is New York City’s official design festival, held each May since it was founded in 2012 by the New York City Economic Development Corporation and became an independent nonprofit organization in 2021, with programming spread across all five boroughs.
The festival brings together trade fairs, gallery exhibitions, open studios, product launches, talks, and panel discussions spanning furniture, interior, graphic, textile, and product design. Its outdoor Design Pavilion presents public installations at landmark venues around the city, while the NYCxDESIGN Awards recognize standout work across residential and commercial categories. At its pre-pandemic peak in 2019, the festival drew roughly 300,000 visitors to more than 400 events, generating over 100 million dollars in economic activity for the city. NYCxDESIGN remains one of the most prominent showcases of New York’s design and creative industries.
